Occupational Therapist Jobs

"I love working for Onward and the excitement of being a traveler. Getting paid to see the world, interacting with people from various backgrounds, gaining experience and seeing how other practitioners work in various states is priceless. It warms my heart to know that I have a recruiter who I can cry on the phone to, raise my voice when I get frustrated, laugh with, and feel like we are truly good friends. I guess that's why after 5 years I am still with Onward and don't see myself anywhere else!"

– Chonte W, Onward Travel OT, 5+ years

Why A Travel Occupational Therapy Job

Kara W (left with friend), Onward OT, 5+ years.

Typical travel occupational therapist jobs are three months long, offer the opportunity to live in new and exciting destinations, and often pay 10%-15% more than perm OT jobs with the opportunity to earn a six-figure salary in one year!

The Perks of a Travel Occupational Therapy Career:

  • The freedom to explore exciting new locations and fulfill a sense of adventure.
  • The ability to test out different settings and practices to decide what you like best before you go perm.
  • The opportunity to learn from skilled OT professionals and build your occupational therapist resume.
  • The added bonuses such a free private housing, travel reimbursement and tax-free pay.

As a travel occupational therapist, you're in control of where and when you want to work. You’ll work with your recruiter to select a new assignment every few months, or settle in one area and experience all it has to offer. Or if you want to stay close to home, you can enjoy "local travel" assignments in your own backyard.

Getting Started in a Travel OT Job

Starting your career as a travel occupational therapist is relatively simple. Just follow the steps below:

Step 1: Complete our Application

An online application is needed by our OT recruiters to present your profile to potential clients. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes to complete.

Step 2: Speak with a Recruiter

After you complete your application, one of our experienced recruitment specialists from our travel rehab team will contact you to discuss your personal goals, location preferences, background, skillset, and availability.

Step 3: Interview with a Facility

This is normally conducted by phone and is your chance to ask questions about the facility, your responsibilities, and decide if the assignment will be a good fit for you.

Step 4: Accept a Travel OT Assignment

If you and the facility decide it’s a match, your recruiter will begin managing your transition, including gathering documentation and assisting you in housing arrangements, coordination of pre-employment compliance forms, and day one instructions for your new travel OT job.

Step 5: Start Working as a Travel OT

It's that simple! And your Onward recruiter will be with you every step of the way for any questions you have while on assignment or to help you choose your next destination.
