Getting Started in an Allied Health Career

The first step to starting your allied health career with Onward Healthcare is to complete an online application. Upon entering your personal profile, you need to will specify whether you are interested in a local per diem allied healthcare job or a travel allied job. Once you complete this simple four-step process, you will be assigned an Onward recruiter who will serve as your career and placement consultant. Your recruiter will then contact you to discuss your allied health career goals, facility / location preferences, specialties, work experience and availability. He/she will also review your application, skills checklist, references and any additional information that is required by OSHA and the Joint Commission. Our facilities may also require health clearance paperwork, licensure verification and a qualifying exam.

After you have completed the registration process, your recruiter will work with one of our dedicated client service managers to present your employment application and capabilities to the appropriate facilities based on your availability and work requirements. Once they have identified a schedule that meets your work preferences, he/she will contact you with the details of the job. When ready, your recruiter will also coordinate interviews with the facilities you are interested in, which will generally be done via telephone for a travel assignment.

Onward Healthcare will then send you a confirmation of any potential offers and coordinate relevant benefits and pay information related to your allied healthcare job assignment. If you are on a travel assignment you will also be contacted about your housing options. At the close of your travel or local per diem contract, you may be eligible for a completion bonus. The facility in which you are working with may also want to extend your contract. If you or the facility does not wish to extend your assignment, you can contact Onward Healthcare to take a new travel assignment or local per diem job elsewhere.
