Case Management Nurse - Case Manager

Eastern Maine Medical Center is a specialty referral hospital that provides leading-edge programs in cancer, surgery, and cardiac care, among many others. Under community direction, it has grown from a five-bed general hospital into a comprehensive, 411-bed medical center. The medical center and its medical staff of more than 450 physicians provide three-quarters of the primary-care services offered in the Bangor area, as well as specialty and intensive services to the northern two-thirds of the state. Position details: The Care Manager, will assess, plan, implement and evaluate the options and services required to meet an individual's health needs during the acute encounter. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Fast paced acute hospital setting PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Read and Speak English, occasionally standing for 2-4 hours, extended periods of computer and telephone use.

Required Qualifications

At least 3 years of nursing experience in acute hospital care setting (med-surg, ED, critical care). ACM, CCM or other certification applicable to utilization management within 3 years of hire. Associate Degree in Nursing 1. Interqual or Milliman experience, 3-4 on your scale 2. Acute care CM experience, 3-4 on your scale 3. The ability to hit the ground running, our long term experienced nurses who have no CM experience are given a 12 week orientation. Our expectation for travelers would be 2 weeks of computer training with a CM and then they are able to work with little oversight

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's in Nursing Experience in continuing care planning, resource management, medical necessity or care management desired. Knowledge of payers, reimbursement, DRGs and ACO desired. Revenue integrity and compliance knowledge-- Screening for medical necessity and working with Physician Advisor for secondary reviews-utilization review and utilization management. Knowledge of various levels of care including home care and all types of nursing facilities. Knowledge of CMS Conditions of Participation pertaining to Care Management and Utilization Management.
